Run With Us - Instrumental Cover

This is an instrumental cover I did of The Raccoons theme song 'Run With Us'. I recorded this in August 2010, and I've only just finished mixing it.

My cover is in the arrangement of Steve Lunt's original recording, as opposed to Lisa Lougheed's version. Although I prefer Lisa Lougheed's version, why I covered it like this is for several reasons: I wanted mine to sound different to other covers around, and also because if I was to record it in the Lisa Lougheed arrangement, I would have to play a real guitar (to me, the Lisa Lougheed arrangement without a guitar just wouldn't work), and I can't play guitar (well, I can, but not very well - terribly, in fact). If you're asking "but I can hear guitar in the chorus," it isn't a real guitar - it's a keyboard voice (the only voice I could find that actually sounded remotely like the real thing). I performed and recorded this onto a keyboard 'cause I find it easier to do so (and then I got it onto the computer by literally holding a microphone to the keyboard speaker and playing each track one by one), and I added reverb to the percussion sounds to give it an '80s' feel. The version performed by Steve Lunt has never been officially released (to my knowledge), so in order to make this a full-length cover, I referred to the various snippets of the song heard throughout the first season of 'The Raccoons' and also Lisa Lougheed's cover (which is complete). I'm not the kind of person who strays far away from originals when doing covers, so I've tried to keep this as faithfull to the original as I could. Overall, I did enjoy covering the song, but the bass part was a nightmare to perform without any mistakes!

'Run With Us' was originally written by Kevin Gillis, Jon Stroll and Steve Lunt. I don't intend to make money or any kind of profit through this cover. I did this mainly to reflect my love of the show.

There aren't any vocals because I can't sing a note (and also the neighbours would hear me), but I've added the lyrics for viewers to possibly sing along to, a bit like karaoke or something like that. In case anyone's wondering, the 'raccoons' font I've used here is called Candice.

@lapike When I was recording this, I got the tempo by listening to the end credits and trying to match it with the click track on the keyboard (125 bpms, apparently). Glad you like it though :-)

@lapike I already tried to find a recent email address of Steve Lunt, but the one I found from Atlantic Records doesn't seem to work anymore. So we need to find out where Steve currently works in order to find his email address

@lapike Unfortunately, the version playing in the DVD menu is just the edit from the end credits.

Speaking of the main menu, it's not just Broo that's there - if you leave the menu alone long enough, Bert appears and starts going "hello, is anybody there?" haha.
