  • good job man!

  • why would you compete with the "todays best"?

  • Too bad, it was coming along nicely. I'm in the process of making my own scene rendering engine. For me I am planning to make a specific game so it helps me figure out what kind of tools I'll make.

  • Yep, Cyborgtroy nailed it. Regardless this engine is on hold right now. For probably a long time, I have to many other things to do. Programming was a side thing.

My main this is 3D Modeling. Maybe one day Ill revisit this engine and finish it, but for now it will stay on hold. I never did get my last tech demo on line, it has shaders and looks pretty nice now but the level editor and VBOs were just giving me to much trouble for now.

    Discontinued, for now.

  • No, he's creating it so he can learn more about computer games.

There's no point competing with "today's best"... Too much effort.

  • did u make the map in 3dsmax? like the texture and everything?

  • Im pretty sure an asswipe like you has the baddest PC on the market, yet you suck at every game you have installe don your PC.

Some people don't mind creating stuff from scratch while idiots like you wait for the next best thing.

  • are you trying to create your own 3D engine to compete with todays best?

  • Also i make my models in 3dsmax or a 3D package and then import them into my engine with a model loader that I have programed. And thank you googolplex101 for explaining those things to DavindXD.

  • Well this is how it goes: we all know what OpenGL and DirectX are right? They are called API's. These API's have tools in them to help program. You could use any of several languages, not just C++. C++ doesnt do collision detection for you,you provide mathematical rules for what happens when to things are touching basd on velovity, direction etc C++ is a programming language, OpenGL isn't As for generating 3D models, openGL does this using very complicated maths, and uses info from the programer
