Everywhere I look
Theres work to be done
The Economy is in decline
Theres a man with a gun
Every single day
Im taken by surprise
Politicians cuting pay
Banks are nationalised
Everywhere I look
Theres work to be done.
Even in America
In the Delta lands
People are still struggling
And need a helping hand
Every time I hear
The ringing of the bells
I think of all those innocents
Who died in towers and cells
Everywhere I look
Theres work to be done
Out upon the highway
The drunken engines roar
Impossible to get them boys
Drive a little slower
People loosing jobs
People on the dole
Now its looking like
Were gonna lose the breakfast roll
Everywhere I look
Theres work to be done
Everybody seems
To be under a spell
Some are thinking this is heaven
Some are thinking this is hell
Everything is strange
Nothing really fits
Some people are just hanging on
By their fingertips
Everywhere I look
Theres work to be done
In the business world
The worm begins to turn
The lessons of the past
Have been badly learned
The rivers and the streams
Are getting blocked and choked
And Gods of every hue and shade
Are constantly invoked
Everywhere I look
Theres work to be done
Chorus
Everywhere I look
Theres been a cosmic shift
But were still getting crumbs
From the tables of the rich
Theres soldiers fighting wars
In far off foreign lands
Shouldnt they by playing with
Their children in the sand
