I don't really care who has the better job in what ever service. Just remember that Scouts have access to all the schools that Infantry have access to. Force Recon has a different role and purpose as do the Rangers so piss off, if you think a bloke like me cares.

The psych of a Scout is different then that of an Infantryman. A job is a job. In the end I'm proud to have enlisted as a Cavalry Scout, sure beats the Army Reserve version of the Military Police. To each his own.

If you want to talk about wasting tax payer money this isn't the cause of the deficit so deflect your anger elsewhere.

So I'm joining the military after high school, no questions. I still haven't decided on what branch of service I want to enter. Either the Air Force to be a 1a7- aerial gunner, the Army as a 19d, or the Marines as a grunt. Anyone have any ideas or opinions?

thru my career I've had Navy CIC personnel, AF Gunship crewmen and MC Force Recn guys hop over and bleed Red & White Cavalry. I love my stetson and spurs beats the Expert Infantry Badge any day. Cavalry Scout, the workhorse of the Army. Brotherhood is strong in the Scout World.

@sushidevil scouts is fun but you get stuck if your in scouts, in infantry you get alot of schools and get to opt for ranger and Special Forces later down the path.

@back211 we have the same access to all those schools too, 11-series are not all that special. Infantry Scout is nothing compared to Cavalry Scout. The psych of a Scout is different then that of an Infantryman. A job is a job. Everyone has their own preference. Oh and btw Scouts can handle explosives whereas Infantry usually have to rely on Combat Engineers, Scouts, Rangers and or Operators to breach. Do some research before comparing. To each his own.

@sushidevil i'm looking into going into the army right after high school, i narrowed it down to either Cavalry Scout or Combat Engineer, i know cav scout have a 16 OSUT and combat engineers have a 14 OSUT, i looked at the differences and similarities, can you tell me any other first hand accounts about mental and physical toughness between the two
