  • Are the wraps something that you have designed yourself or is this something that is readily available through Dadant etc? We don't really need them here where I am at, but I'm a little curious, t appeared they were very easy to install and remove.

  • These wraps are fairly new to the market and are very easy to install and store. They are made up of a sleeve of thick polyethalene plastic with aerofoil insulation on the inside. They are made by a commercial beekeeper custom to fit your hives; depending on the size and style of equipment you use. The beekeeper is Ben Hogan if your interested in trying some I could pass his number along.

  • what kind of pump / feed equipment are you using

  • The pump is a plastic air operated diaphragm pump, and we are feeding liquid sugar syrup which we mix ourselves

  • Did you guys build the feeders? What plans were used.?

Also what tank is used for mixing syrup?

  • very nice and organized

  • i've heard of smoking the bees but gassing them? lol..I love watching these bee videos. one day i hope to start a top bar hive myself

  • Interesting to see how you feed the sugar syrup straight into the hive top box, without messing with any feeders, and also how you have different entrances for the bees, from what I saw a couple for the honey chambers and a lower one for the brood, but all as penny-coin openings to make robbing hard.

  • Our winters are pretty mild here, our lowest temp so far 11 deg F that was only one night. Average winter temperature is 30 to 40 with dips to 15 and twenty. It's not a real big deal to have to wrap them here, although I am going to try wrapping and feeding syurup and pollen cakes on half of them and see if it make a big enough diffrence. This coming winter that is. as we only have 8 between my sister and us. We are both planning to increase to at least ten or maybe 20 each this coming spring.

  • Nice setup & video/audio.

  • i sow at the begining ,that you have 3 holes at the hive.how you do this ?and you cover the hive with something black .....what this contain? .....I want to do the same thing with my bees next winter .......thank you ....
