Let help you with a little history lesson, the US Coast Guard developed and perfected helicopter rescue that you boys now use. We rescue more folks from a more diverse set of circumstances from the Bering Sea to the North Atlantic to the Gulf of Mexico. You boys may be good but you learned it from us and we are better. Teacher to student lesson. Former HH-3F Helicopter Aircrew - Alaska.

I've seen this video over and over again and it reminds me of the professionalism of the amazing team that I was a part of. The teamwork and communication of the crew in this is awesome. Although I was in from 82 - 95' and was a small boat coxswain, this brings back alot of memories. :-D

I was in Coast Guard as a young man. I operated a 41 ft. search & rescue boat at Pascagoula, Ms. Looking back, maybe the most wonderful experience of my life. Anyone considering enlistment should go for it. I had some adventures I never even dreamed of having. Before, or since then.

Thanks to all the Coasties!
Back in 1976 A CG helicopter transported my dad from an outer island in the Washington San Juan's to a hospital, after he injured his back. The quality of care and knowledge show by the Coasties was excellent. Thanks, thanks, thanks.
Do you strap the survivors in once they are aboard? A little unnerving thinking about the survivors having access to an open door. I noticed the winch operator was attached via a strap.
Thanks!
Cool video. Must feel good to go home after work knowing you save lives. Better then my job anyway. :)

I always wondered how the piloting was done exactly for a hover like that. I know the HH65 has a computer controlled hover system, but are rescues like this done solely by pilot skill? That would take a real steady hand...wow.
At any rate Coast Guard helo pilots are the shit.
