Fuk economy picking, if you want to be a true shred master alternate picking is the way you should practice.

@wizardofshred Thanks Claus!! Ah so I guess having the pick slightly slanted works too? Cuz what I'm trying to achieve is flawless accuracy and that scary clicking sound, y'know, like how Jeff Loomis does. How would u advise for this? Thanks! Sorry if I'm asking too much ^^"

@thrashbladerazor You might want to check out the blog posts I have on my website under the category "The ultimate guide to alternate picking" the slanted pick is the way to go! :-)

Man, you are awesome Claus! Ok but can I ask you a question regarding technique? First of all, when you economy pick are you using more of your wrist, thumb, or arm? I've been observing players like Malmsteen and Stump, and so far I've been seein' 'em use their thumb. But my teacher keeps telling me to move my wrist more or I'll develop a bad habit using my thumb, so maybe can you advise me? Second, is the tip of your pick slightly slanted against the strings, or is it parallel all the time?

@thrashbladerazor Thanks! I've seen players use their thumb and play very fast and precise. So I wouldn't advise you not to do it if it really works for you. I can't teach you how to best develop this "thumb picking style " though, because I can't do it myself. The tip of my pick is almost always slightly slanted forward. All the best!

Hi, great playing!
If you don't mind i'd like to ask you something..
I have a squier with scalloped frets with two single coil di marzio hs 3
and a marshall mghdfx100 , head and cabinet...
what do i have to do or buy to get the sound of yours?
thanks and keep on rocking!

@Oasisdelrock I use Dimarzio red velvets in the middle and neck position. They have twice as much output as the HS3s and they sound different. Then I have a Dimarzio Chopper in the bridge position and that's the one your hearing in this video. Turn Bass all the the way down, the mids and treble a little over twelve o'clock. Thanks!
