@justineuropa True the southern Aristocracy used the poor whites in the war, they tricked them into thinking they were fighting for the south and a noble cause when they were just fighting for rich people getting free labor. Before the Civil war somebody published a book saying that slavery hurts poor whites economically and socially, and I'm having trouble remembering the name of the book maybe you know??

Also, poor and working-class Whites in this country never benefited from slavery, and after the slaves were freed, they were used against the poor Whites kinda like how illegals are now to put pressure downward on wages.
