As someone who's had a largely bogus claim of sexual harassment/assault made against me, I think its important for claims of rape to be treated with some skepticism, but I would hope they would not be "disregarded as a lie".

There are many reasons why someone would do that, but that is somewhat irrelevent to the question this begs of "given innocence or guilt is hard to prove, what should be the default level of skepticism we treat such claims with?"

Indeed, just like with any other claim of criminal violation sexual assault should be met with at least some level of skepticism...what that appropriate level is I honestly don't know.

I have experiences from both sides now, so I guess each one balances the other bias out, but I don’t think I would be the best person to make such a call if I were put in that position. With that said, I do think that it should be on a case by case basis whenever possible.

I'm sorry you had to endure this. I think we are all capable of behaving totally irrationally where relationships are concerned. Most of us don't resort to lies and such dreadful manipulations, but I know I've been very silly in the past. It doesn't excuse this, but there is a certain lunacy of 'love' which seems to cause this kind of thing. I'm very glad you made is as a couple. It's a testament to it's truth and depth. :)

Unfortunately, women like that are not rare at all. I could be wrong, but I think in most cases these claims never get far enough to involve the legal system. False rape claims really make things even harder for true victims of sexual assault.

When false rape claims come out, men are usually guilty until proven innocent. It's a shame, but it's reality. Kudos to you for seeing through the shitstorm and ending up with an amazing partner!

@YeOldeHeretic I didn't want to label people unduely, though I have seen deep trauma cases that just can't handle freedom and pass on their dysfunction to others, especially any children they have, and xxxild's recent video discussed "gang stalking" at some of it's worst,which is the same en. mass.
