The full-sized Gerber fast Draw knife. Picked up at Walmart for $40, these "assisted" knives aren't available in all locations. Can be found online at similar price ranges. Similar to a switchblade, the knife will spring open. The difference being the assisted release knives still need some effort from the user to get it started (this'll keep it form going off in your pocket). May not be legal in all areas but I had some trouble determining exactly where these knives are and aren't allowable. They fall into a gray area of sorts. Fortunately the WalMart in Bedford NH had it. The full sized is 3.0 inches but there is a smaller version out as well. Blade locks into place and is released by a small switch.
No offense but that is the shittiest knife I've ever owned the grip split apart.

I have one of these, its a good back-up knife to throw in my backpack, in case i forgot my edc, a cold steel AK47 mini. nothing special though, I feel like the fast draw system is a bit gimmicky

the serrated edge is amazingly sharp. when the straight edge is dull, you can always count on the teeth to be sharp. i paid 40 buck for it at gander mountain. i like it. it's a very tough

I picked it up the other day. Gotta say, I really like it. I think I'll be fine with the serrated blade. I think what I meant by the blade locking was if it locked in any position. I've found this to be false; however, I still really like the knife. Thanks for the info on the serrated blade.

It does lock when the blade is in. The serrated half is nice and stays very sharp (that's the point of a serrated blade, after all, since the valleys do not come in contact with surfaces as much) but if/when it does become dull its more difficult to sharpen because you need a different tool. If you don't want to have to fuss with it, I would say go with nonserated version. I would have because I prefer a nonserated knife for the tasks I normally use it for but it was not available at the time.
