1975's "My World Is Turning On Love" was the b-side of Arrows 5th single "Hard Hearted," and was
a mainstay in the live show by the band.
This particular backing track was recorded at Strawberry Studio in Manchester, and guested (unseen in the video) Steve Gould of Rare Bird on Keyboards and backing vocals. Alan Merrill, sang lead and played bass on this track, as usual, but was encouraged to front the band as a lead vocalist for the visual. Terry Taylor and Jake Hooker on guitars and backing vocals, and Paul Varley on drums.
Note: This video cuts off halfway through. Sorry, it's all I have of this song.

  • Bill was very good the them, we had a lot of feed back from him.

Mickey was a hard task master but yes as Alan mentioned to be a while back. the big

"WHAT IF" it all started to fall apart with the entrance of Lorna, Sorry Jake!

The crowds on tour were outragious. Alan had already seen some of that in Japan as a solo artist.

"Streak" was the forshadowing of the Arrows. With the TV show Mickey did some things that were "provocative". Which didn't help.

We have these! Yes Alan still has it.

  • By Bill you mean Wyman right? He produced some Arrows tracks, The band was great with Terry involved, and "what if" they had actually released some of those Wyman produced tracks with the TV show. From all I've read Jake's wife Lorna was the beginning of the end, the first kiss of death of many for this band. They didn't last more than a year after this performance splitting in 1977.

  • Bill Harry's site has been changed and consolidated to one site, Merseybeat.

It has some Arrows stuff there.

  • Why were they blacklisted? That is sad.

    Skye

  • The whole story is told on Bill Harry's Rock and Pop Shop site. Classic songs section (I love rock n roll).

    It's a great article.

  • This band should have been huge. They had it all. It's good that these video clips still exist.

  • Alan Merrill and his bandmates deserve better than they got.

  • No I meant Bill Harry. Wyman took them down to St.Paul D'Vance to run some tracks, and yes they had it all, three of the most talented and business savvy musicians of the time. But Wyman was very good to them.

The external forces were the true culprit in the demise of a classic 70s group, time has attested to that fact.

  • This was in 1976.

  • The Arrows clothing was seventies to the max.

  • Look at the 70s clothing! The collars are huge... all the way to the shoulder! lol

  • I don't care what age an artist is, I want to hear good music. If Alan still has it, I want to hear it!

  • He does every kind of music and it is all good.

Plus, he is an exceptional human being.
