On Thursday, January 21, 2010, Kevin Powell, April R. Silver, DJ Spooky, Laura Dawn, DJ Beverly Bond, Marc Ecko, Annabella Sciorra, Laura Dawn, and Marisa King-Redwood produced a fundraiser to "Help Haiti" at ELEMENT in Greenwich Village, New York City. Please watch this short piece that I produced and directed, which documents the event.
Thank you to my production crew, Kevin Chung, Stacey Muhammad, Johnathon Jackson, Kenyatta Steans, Kenneth Rodriquez, and Johnalynn Holland for donating their time to film and edit this event. I also want to thank the "Help Haiti" event organizers for granting me and my crew access to shoot the event.
Help Haiti - Produced and Directed by Byron Hurt. Edited by Johnalynn Holland.
HelpHaitiOnline.org is a resource website designed to be an online clearinghouse of information in the wake of the tragic earthquake that hit Haiti on January 12, 2010.
I dont understand
The poor families do not need to give, isn't this more or less aimed at the richer families?

Great video, but how can we be sure that the Haitains are getting the donations ? Someone in the video mentioned 'long term', but what about Americans who are in need ? Haiti was in dire straights before the earthquake, and America shouldn't always have to take the lead in these instances . Especially when our house isn't in order. Americans don't have healthcare, but all of a sudden 100's of millions of dollars is raised for Haiti. Fine, BUT, when will poor Americans also get attention ?
