One last thing: Leonard Piekoff is nothing but a second handing, walking contradiction of a "philosopher", or even an objectivist for that matter.

told him to do, and as long as he respected individual rights among others, that was ok.
So, as far as Objectivism goes, it creates many great patterns of thought which are required for human beings to evolve (if you ask me, that is) from where we currently are. However, it needs less extremism as well as less of a "religious" attitude towards people who are not part of its community. It also rejects collectivism, however has a very collective attitude in general.

One is the the thought that to be a vegetarian, or hold any subjective view is immoral or irrational. Subjective view is important when it comes to certain things such as aesthetics, regardless of whether or not they've been influenced by an individual's developmental surroundings. One should also be allowed to set their own parameters of what is right or wrong; that's part of what the character Howard Roark was truly about. He did what HE thought was right, not what any philosophy or society

Thoughts on Objectivism: As a whole it's a great concept: Individual rights, to work hard at the fullest of one's potential, rational thought, etc. These are very evolutionary traits when compared to the common human being in today's day and age (at least as far as U.S. society goes). Things like this make perfect sense.
When it gets down to the nitty and gritty aspects of it though, there are certain parts of the philosophy which seem to be a tad cruel.

I looked it up, too. For future, his names is spelled as: "Norman Borlaug"
Thanks for the link.
Are you familiar with Norman Borlog? He's the agronomist whose innovations have been said to have saved a billion people from starvation.

I had never heard of him before but I googled him. Interesting stuff. Why are there no monuments to him? There must be one somewhere...
