This video produced by the NGO Viramundo, supported by the Visible Voices Social Network, covers the devastated scenario in part of the favela of Rocinha, the largest slum in Brazil, caused by the heavy rain occurred on April 2010, in Rio de Janeiro, where more than 200 people have died and around 53,000 people became homeless due to flood and mudslides.
It was created by a local resident and contains the residents viewpoints focusing not only on the flood immediate consequences, but also on their worries as to the future, considering the long-term social inequalities that characterize Brazilian society. In sum, they are afraid of the authorities behaviour towards them that tends to be quite different in comparison to the wealthy residents. See for yourself.
