I don't think Ovechkin meant to go knee-to-knee. For one thing, as is obvious, it's as dangerous for him as for the other player. For the other thing, Gleason cut in very, very quickly. Ovechkin was going for the big hit, but did not intend the knee-on-knee at all.

Honestly, I don't feel bad one bit. He's a discreet dirty player, and a show-off. Good riddance.

good for the stupid fuck. he deserved every last bit of that injury and i truly hope he is out for a long time. he's tried that time and time again, and it's about time he got himself injured for his dirty play. i hope he's lost for the season

I hate to see anyone get really hurt, but Ovie brought it on himself. I could never understand why a player with his kind of talent needed to play dirty in the first place. Maybe this will teach him a lesson...
