The YAL-1 Airborne Laser engages the MARTI missile surrogate during a 10 January 2009 flight test. The US Missile Defense Agency released the video on 22 January. The test represents the first air to air engagement of the YAL-1's high-powered COIL laser.

  • I'm pretty sure a multimullion dollar missile would auto-correct if it's off course. You'd probably need to destroy it altogether.

  • It's not like it stops the rocket immediately....it's moving at hundreds of miles an hour. It obviously destroyed the missile though, if you look at the heat signature before and after.
