  • @Selsiuss2 To me this is nothing but a fad. In the 50's they used to let the bow fall to the ground by loosening the grip. HOWEVER, every single Olympic archer seems to do the "gay flip" and you can bet these learned experts believe that it makes a difference. If anything, it helps to follow an exact routine.

The gay flip? Not on a compound--never! At least for me...but, then after 30 years of practice, I'm still a weekend hacker.

  • Great form.. Cool..

  • Whenever I try to fire a bow without gripping with my fingers, the bow starts slipping out of my hand. the angle of the handle makes it slide up my palm, so what's a guy to do?

  • @RyanMatthewHill *so* not son

  • @Selsiuss2 It reduces tourque on the bow and makes you more accurate with your shot, son you dont jerk and skew the arrow off coarse

  • they let the bow drop because it prevents you from tweaking the grip as you fire. If you hold the grip firmly you lose some accuracy by twitching when you release. If you are just allowing the bow to rest on your hand you gain accuracy by taking away the ability to torque the bow with your hold hand.

  • @Selsiuss2 Becuasee in order to stop it from dropping you would have to hold it and wrap your fingers around the bow. If you are shooting proper form, the only part of your hand that should touch the bow is your palm. If you hold the bow it creates torque and makes the bow unaccurate.

  • @TheOutdoorsLife By why let it drop? Is it so that they can see the arrow hit the target?

  • @Selsiuss2 They are not dropping it they let it fall. The lon rod on the front of the bow is called a stabalzer. The stabalizer can be as long as 36 inch, So natural the bow drops after the shot becuase of the weight on the front end.

  • why do archers drop their bow down after shooting?
