This is a method to convert your favorite modded weapons from The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion to the Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind for the PC. You don't need to have Oblivion installed for this to work.

You will need the latest version of Blender, with Python, the Python File Format Interface, and the nif scripts plugin for Blender. You will also need to have Nifskope installed.

This tutorial does not cover adding the weapon in game with the Morrowind Construction Set, only how to convert it so Morrowind can read it.

All credit for this technique go to the modder named Revengeous, and to the creators of Blender, Nifskope and Python. And of course, Bethesda.

  • How on earth do you adjust the positioning of the hand with nifscope?

  • @sharpclaymore

Right-click on the NiTriShape and choose Transform > Edit. This will open a menu which allows you to change the x,y,z position, rotation, and scale of that NiTriShape. For items with multiple NiTriShapes, you may have to move all the NiTrishapes individually or the NiNode they're attached to.

  • those textures your putting on the nif are dds? ...

  • Yes, they are .dds files.

  • Question , What if has an under score g?

  • A texture file ending with _g is a Glow map. These are used to give light and glow effects to the mesh.

  • can this work the other way? like from morrowind to oblivion?

  • ok...i converted the weapon no problem but how in the world do i add them to morrowind useing TESC? i never really used it so idk how it works :/ ...could someone be kind and tell me how?

  • I was able to convert a weapon from an OB mod to MW without too much fuss, but I would love to learn how to convert armor. The problems that I have have to do with the fact that I have to adjust the armor to be compatible with MW/BB bodies. Also, MW has more armor slots than OB, making separating the armor essential. Because of this, you probably have to remap the textures, which is way beyond me. So, sad face =(.

  • wat if im doing close for htis and there is no wire frame thing

  • This is cool, however I'm trying to import a door to Morrowind from Oblivion. I don't think i've done it correctly though. It gives me the error of "filename must be shorter than 32 characters!"
