Using the Custom White Balance won't help with the sharpness, just with the picture's color. It will make the color a bit more accurate than if you were to just use one of the preset options like tungsten. Try using a clean piece of paper, but a little bit of dirt shouldn't make that much of a difference.

is it really necessary to use custom w/b to get sharp pics?n if u do its only appropriate in the current situation right?wat if the paper is slightly dirty that eye cant see?
