My own mother is bipolar and she has only been diagnosed with the illness since 2009ish. I ask myself why werent the doctors able to tell what was going off for all them years she was seeking help? The symptioms were there but they simply argued that my mother only had depressions. I am now doing a degree in psychology in order to see things from a holistic perspective.

This infuriates me because the treatment isn't pharma drugs. In his case, if he stopped drinking, detoxed cooled out, and NEVER started taking those poisons, he would have been fine.

Not doubt is a mental "disorder" :) but i consider it a Gods' Gift because to me it represents a sign of "humanity". I rather be a maniac-depressive (as they call it too) than a psycopath for exemple. Medicaments : for the high periods i recommend anxiety (in fact this is the real problem with us and many others) pills. they keep them smoother and more enjoyable because under control. And the down period can be even inexistent.
i wish you all the best ("sick" or not:) @aeonalyona

@adrienne317 I understand. Both of my parents are Bipoalar and my mom is Skitsafanic. Most people think that if you are bipoalar your a how u might say a "Loon".
They dont understand the world the way others do because they cannot help themselves. And my mom cnt even finish sentances. My dad nearly skips over every other word. I wish people understanded more. Not just the ones with the( How i would say) "Curse"

Been in the psychiatric ward for a month now, and just got diagnosed as bi-polar. I am also taking Lithium (900mg) and Seroquil for sleep, as well as Cipralex. This disorder has such a stigma attatched to it (I first thought of Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde) that I resisted the diagnosis at first. I am 20 years old, and plan to continue taking my medication to ensure smooth sailing through the rest of my life. Good luck to all of you in your adventures :)

I'm starting to understand...or come to terms with this 800l.b. monkey on my back. It's not easy. But man when u r up the creative ideas for art just flow from one-into-the other( my wife calls it: He's rolling), then u just drop, like Humpty Dumpty & in my case that's one hardheaded egg. I so thank God that I have such a good wife!

Bipolar disorder is a blessing and a curse.
I wish that the unaffected people could truly understand.
It's incredibly embarrassing when you're manically trying to talk to someone and your brain moves so fast that your mouth can't keep up and your words come out sounding like some weird unintelligible babbling. I literally have to stop talking mid sentence, close my eyes, and visualize each word that I want to say.
How is he now? Please updates
