Church welcomes first married priest

Father Jeff Whorton came to a Roman Catholic parish in Rio Rancho as a former Episcopalian, and, with a wife and five children, he brought a bit of controversy as New Mexico's first married priest.

@Andrewcarey87 Study your history, the Catholic church accepts marriage of priests, it is only a practise of the Latin Rite of the church. I agree in the Latin Rite priest should not marry it is the one place in the church where priest can be free from all distraction. But there are 4 other holy rites that have married clergy. Check out the Maronites, the holy see of Antioch and do some study.

Catholic Priest can NOT married to another person because all other priest in my Diocese don't do that and that is a SIN to do that but ONLY if a wife dies then that's ok.

about the shell fish thing?..first off they didnt have the technology we do to clean animals, mind you people still die to this day because of eating oceanic animals without gills incorrectly i dont realy care about that verse because i dont eat oyster anyway. read lev 21:21-32 again that has nothing to do with people with glasses because first..there vision is corrected with the glasses and second that is for decendants of "aaron the high priest, i dont many people from his family so lol.

deuteronomy 15:12-15 states that after 7 yrs a slave must be released. Remember that God told them they could enslave the surrounding nations because they were heathens and enemies of israel, but if they became hebrews and converted they were to be treated like the isrealites who were slaves out of egypt. lev 15:19-24 is about girls on their period..come on man..would u touch a girl who was bloody from a discharge?..knowing there where no tampons and etc..and anyway that was for 7 days only.
