You can get windows XP from a torrent or limewire.

I use osx in a vm under vista.
it makes more technical sense because it's vista that can really use my hardware, that I'd always be struggling to facilitate with shoddy 3d virtualization.
and about apple's restrictive EULA: screw apple's EULA.
I wouldn't buy some overpriced computer from microsoft if they insisted that was the only lawful way to access windows/windows mobile, and I'm certainly not going to buy a mac to develop for the iphone.
proprietary tie-ins aren't an inalienable right.
