@davedirk I did upload a lot of early jazz by Duke Ellington,Fletcher Henderson,Original Cotton Club Orch and King Oliver off my original 70 year old records, but others like Warner+Orchard claim copyrights. All copyright claims over 70 years old should be ignored(in my opinion).
I love Beck, and Indie music, etc...However, I grew up in a household nothing but big band music from the 1930's and early '40's..All i can say is. This is greatest generation performing the best of big bands to me.. peace
Just read about a 'Battle of Music' on Sept 25 1926 between Mal Hallet's Jazz Orch. and Jean Goldkette's Orch. in New England. Don't who 'won' but Goldkette was at it's best and later beat the top Henderson band. A year on Goldkette had folded but Hallett kept going. That says something.
Michael,I have a photo with Spiegel Wilcox of the 1926 Goldkette Band and he told me about a Big Band Battle that took place in Scranton,Pa between Goldkette and Whitey Kaufman's Original Pennsylvania Serenaders.
Thank you, Bigband78 for all of your musical contributions! I know we would all love to hear the earliest jazz you mentioned! Can you upload it soon?
Thx, dirk
