A rather poor attempt at getting a well loaded boat around in one at Hawksbury Junction between the Oxford and Coventry Canals. Unloaded it is easy to get the boat around in one hit without using reverse, but as the boat turns you can see there is not enough depth to get the water around the stern at the speed I attempted it at and thus reduced the turning effect. It didn't help that I got a blade full when I did go into reverse either!

The boat had about 19 tons on board, and so must weigh over 35 tons in total. Lack of water in the pound didn't help either.

  • I think I have seen this boat going on the Tideway of the Thames with a tug called Major. She was moving a bit faster then. maybe the tide was carrying her along. What is total length is it about 25 meters?

  • I knew them bushes looked familiar thats why I had to take a second look lol

  • Well worth watching :)
