  • Sevnt7, could you explain your technique in a bit more detail for me? I use the heel-toe technique and am working on a triplet kick, and I've seen this technique before but in makes no sense to me.

  • @nbaileywc First of all, what is heel-toe to you? #1- Is it your toe hitting the pedal board, then your heel hitting your pedal board? or, #2- is it more like "Constant Release" in witch only the ball of your foot contacts the pedal ? I'm using #2 combined with a swivel motion. The swivel motion causes a slight slide to happen. So I just started to develop the slide part and put it together with other techniques. I don't use this much in day to day regular play. It's more for control .

  • When you do this techique, you also slide your toe. I do not use this technique, but i am quite sure that is wrong? (offcourse i know that playing an instrument is all about pereferanses).

Allthough you execute the techinique fairly awesome.

  • @Drummerdrok666 Wrong? why wrong? compared to what? Please explain..... and thanks,...... I think

  • @SEVNT7 I see on most drummers that when they use the swivel techinique their toes stays pretty much at the same stop while their ankle and back part of the foot moves. In your case I see your toes some times almost falls out of the foot board. Yeah i know kind of a bad explenation (due to the fact that English is not my first language).

Well, it was bad of me to say it was wrong, because i dont know to much about this technique. But it just looked uncofertable to me.

  • @Drummerdrok666 I'm sliding on purpose because I'm also doing "Constant Release" at the same time. I also slide to the side a little bit while doing a regular double strokes with my foot. I use the slide in a lot of techniques. It's a common theme for me. When I use the strict swivel, my foot just rotates around a point on the ball of my foot, no sliding.

  • Thanks for the reply. The heel toe technique I use is neither of those. My heel makes contact first, and as the pedal is rebounding up I push down again with my toe or ball of the foot depending on randomly on the speed and volume I want. I guess to further specify my question, how exactly does the swivel technique work? Or how do you use it?

  • THIS is the explanation I needed and that I was looking for since a couple months

  • looks like the technique Kollias is using!

  • in case no one knows never use wd40 on your pedals it is not a lubricant its an abrasive cleaner
