Character is a big deal. But McCain also has been in the senate for decades and has attained the experience from those years in office.

Obama is a good speaker. I give him that. But I question his timing. He has not been in the senate long enough in my opinion. Only 184 days of service does not cut it in my book. I suggest he come back in four to eight years, or when he has learned a little.

Here's something you can look up-Arlen Spector and John McCain's championing of banking industry deregulation (they wanted the government's hands off when it came to a lender's "right" to make profit). I'm talking about vocally, not just their voting record. Now we see what happens when lenders are left alone without rules-government has to bail them out for making bad decisions that Republicans like to say result in bad life choices. I guess if you're conservative, you can justify hypocrisy.

Again, please source what you're saying. I can't find anything that looks credible that claims he was working to illegally register democrat voters. I do have credible information that he worked to help people get asbestos removed from their buildings and improve their schools.

And its basically a given at this point that Obama has the edge on the economy. McCain has a slight edge (theoretically) on foreign policy. And most of Obama's major bills have been foreign development bills.

However, he WAS one of the first people to speak out in opposition to the war (as a state congressman). You don't have to be a senator to read intelligence reports that the rest of the world makes fairly public. And being a congressman doesn't keep you from reading it. At a time when (apparently) nobody in the national senate was reading the intel reports, Barack Obama was making what turns out to be pretty much the right call.

You're right-conservative policies DO help certain people. You all claim that "handouts" destroy personal iniative and such, but you're quick to give them to banks/corporations (e.g., Fannie/Freddie), and WE the taxpayers have to foot the bill. You also chide Democrats for their tax-n-spend policies, but engage in deficit spending (Reagan/Bush2), which creates borrowing and the need to pay interests on those loans...which cost in the long run.
