The meaning behind the lyrics of Don McLean's American Pie. Janis Joplin, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, War & Peace, drugs, murder, Hell's Angels and the Rolling Stones. And, of course Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper

  • How in fucks name does this only have 15k views

  • @blueguitarblue I Don,t know what your comment means to me Just into hear one of the best songs ever written

  • @LVEMEDO This is more than just a song. It's a monolithic epic American history lesson capsulated in an amazing song! Leave it to Mick Jagger to tell fans at Altamont during a murder to "cool off." He's such a sell-out--charging $200 per ticket for years. At least Pearl Jam, from my home town, were dignified when fans were trampled, to End the concert AND the tour for mourning. The Stones is possibly the most narcissist r 'n' r bands in history.

  • I BELIEVE THIS IS ABOUT HIS LIFE AND WHEN HE SAYS THE DAY THE MUSIC DIED IT'S BECAUSE IT WA S A BLOOD SACRFRICE, BECUSE THEY KNEW THOSE THREE WOULD CHANGE ROCK N ROLL AND STOP IT FROM BEING SATANIC YOU SHOULD HEAR BUDDY HOLLY WHEN HE SAYS IM POSSESSED Y THE DEVIL

  • I'm downloading this so that one day, when I have kids, I can show them what true music is and how it can actually have MEANING behind it.

    Anyone with me?

  • I remember when this song came out my music teacher tried to make sence of it and as I remember he did a good job. Man were the 60's FUCKED UP!!!!! What a Damn waste! It makes me sick everytime I think about it!!! I'm still waiting for all of the Hippies and College kids from then who are running the country now to make good on all of the BULLSHIT that they preached back then. Whenever I hear someone from then say something like "Man we reall made a diffrence didn't we?" I'd like to Deck em!

  • When I liked this video the suggestions for videos Fred, Icarly, and the Jonas brothers came up and the only thing I could think of was Oh hell no.

  • Its a great video, but it feels like your missing a pretty big point. whenever don says bye miss american pie, he is mainly reffering to the death of his way of life, the simplicity and happiness of the 50s, and he simply uses the death of buddy holly as the gravestone for it. the r est of the song is one big elaborate story, the story of how the american culture and how the music in america matured from the blissful ignorance of the 50s to the turmoil of the 60s. truly unbelievable this song

  • this song explains the 50 60 70 and 80's event in a great way!

  • Im not 2 sure which lennon its talking about, the beetle or the russian communist. It covers cold war later on,
