I always have the spazer at this point along with Ice beam and wave beam... and I just blast Crocomire in the mouth with charged shots.

You know... I've never really had any trouble with the crocomire. Just charge shot so as to hit it right at the bottom of its mouth just as it opens up. The timing is pretty easy to memorize. Don't know just how well it would work without the Spazer, but it should be just fine. No need to waste missiles.
