@MrDwhiting23 Yes the Mutants and the Tu-Tones I don't remember so well. I should also add Crime, the Offs & the Nuns even though I have reservations about their music they were very crucial to the early beginnings.
Later on there were some good bands like Fang and Ribsy but generally speaking all the MRR thrash politico bands were way boring.
Drugs ,violence, conformity and politics killed punk for me circa about 1983.

@sharkattacksteve Just about right. I would add the Mutants and the Tu-Tones

Amazing to see Will Shatter pre-Flipper... Wish it was Rik L Rik though...
Love Negative Trend always...

@crackeryack yeah punk was definitely original in the late 70's early 80's...... nowadays bands just get paid to look like punks from their record company management with no artisic edge what so ever
-
amazing...they are godfathers of Hardcore Punk along with Middle Class or early Black Flag. One of my all time fave bands.
-
Negative Trend - very underappreciated band. One of the best early punk bands. At 0:57 "Do you think punk rock will last?" "Yeah, it'll last." He was right. Back then I wouldn't have thought it would have lasted this long. Pretty amazing how that worked out.

WOW , stubby beer bottles , those are the beer bottles of legend!!!

I'm from S.F so my opinion is the only one that matters. The best S.F bands were Avengers, Sleepers, Negative Trend, Flipper, early D.K's, Toiling Midgets, Pop-o-Pies and Ghost Dance.
is that Rik L Rik or the other guy? Incredible movie. Now that's real punk meaning the real spirit, not an affectation or a style choice but a state of being
