Dishwalla--Moisture / Jewel of the Sahara Fanvid

Opium Dream: This is a kind of twisted alternate reality fanvid. It combines clips from 2 movies starring Gerry Butler. The first, Jewel of the Sahara, is a student short based on an old dirty joke about a British soldier stuck in a French Foreign Legion base in the middle of nowhere who misunderstands about what they mean about resorting to the camel--and comes to a tragic end. I set it up that before he meets his fate he dreams about being the barbarian king Attila, who's got all the action (pillaging & with the ladies) that he can handle. It makes for good campy fun with the Dishwalla song Moisture. The version I used is from the hard-to-find Southeast Asia Tour album, but the song is also on the Pet Your Friends and Greetings...Live from the Flow State albums.

LOL, yeah the premise of the short film is that the English soldier thinks so too. When the commander keeps leering and making sly comments about the camel, the newcomer actually thinks he means they shag the camel. Hence, the later tragedy when he finally gets desperate enough to try it himself.

Thanks! Acutally, if you look carefully you could probably make a pretty good drinking game out of all the various phallic symbols I managed to pack into this thing--even without including the "tenting" or infamous shagging at the end. ;)

Unfortunately, Jewel of the Sahara was never released in any way in the U.S. There are a few very limited number of copies that have made their way over from Gerry Butler fans in Europe. I'm sworn to secrecy about how I got footage. Glad you enjoyed the vid!!
