  • @studionyc Most tenor saxophonists/professors I've ever met with/listened to/studied with/heard of will recommend listening to/the study of Rollins as often as Coltrane. It would be arrogant to believe your opinion is fact, especially when compared to the prevailing opinion of jazz professionals and enthusiasts across the world.

  • I imagine Bill Cosby probably listens to sophisticated stuff like Sonny Rollins all the time. I like Bill Cosby.

  • Silly me. I stopped listening to jazz produced after Coletrane's death, because I couldn't imagine it could still be relevant. How wrong I was.

  • me likey

  • That's my tune cooking the original lp recorded with Oliver Nelson on arrangements

  • I remember being in a clinic of John Patitucci a couple of years ago (if you don't know him, he played with Chick Corea, John Scofield, among many), and he said that the best thing he did to learn how to improvise melodically on the bass, was transcribing and playing Sonny Rollins solos. So FUCK YOU, quit listening if you don't like him, but please stop doing ignorant comments about his musicianship.
