  • I love this song, one of my favorites by Ralph Stanley!

Ralph Stanley is definitely my favorite singer of all time.

He has much talent, and his singing and banjo pickin' is just great. [=

I love listening to his music, always cheers me up when I'm having a bad day.

One day I hope to learn to play the banjo like him. [=

& I enjoyed seeing you in WV at NCHS in April for the first time, it was amazing!

Hope to see you again soon at the bluegrass festival!

    Thanks for making great music.

    Love,

    Ali.

  • But he's not. He is a kind gentle soul.

  • This is from the early nineties. No ralph didn't write little maggie but put such personality into it many consider it to be his now, The liner notes to this video mention that many people are reluctant to attempt ralphs (vocal) tunes because they tend to sound inferior by comparison. However, if you pick the 5 this vid comes with accurate tab to all the songs featured, and is essential if you want to get his sound. Hard Times picked note perfect as written by the master? Could be you.....

  • i dont think this song is by him. nut he is one of the best at singing it.

  • I guess this was somewhere in the mid 80's?

  • the oviation guitar makes that video sond like shit martin&co 4 ever

  • Off topic but I have to say he has a great head of hair for an old man. Good night! Look at all that hair!

  • one of the bluegrass greats!!

  • I saw Mike Seeger play in Seattle when he was a young man. He played a concert for the Folklore Society. A man lent him an old fretless banjo made back in the 1800's and you would not believe the sound he got out of that thing. He could slide between the notes and got a real bluesy sound out of that thing. He also played fiddle and guitar and was a virtuoso on all the instruments. Wonderful musician and human being!

  • How is he still alive? maybe heaven cant take his awesomeness

  • uh........that was BRILLIANT. a little lesson from Ralph Stanley?! yeah...thank you for posting.....
