This voice is not only great, it is exceptional! I can't think of any tenor that has it all as Del Monaco had and I honestly think his detractors used to get away with it in days gone by when the public at large had never heard this wonderful voice. They would be ridiculed today because technology allows us to listen to many of the past and present masters and we can compare and judge these voices for ourselves. Del Monaco gets my vote as the best ever.

I have a lot of music with this great tenor. No "light music" like this. Different to hear this sung with so great power....BRAVO DEL MONACO !!!

La sublime bellezza di Charlize fa da cornice alla straordinaria e potente voce di Mario.
Superba collezione di immagini.
Magnifica canzone del grande tenore Mario Del Monaco.
Splendida condivisione..
Mario del Monaco (1925-1982) in my opinion, was perhaps the greatest dramatic tenor of the 20th Century.
It has also occasionally ventured into light music: his biggest success has been, in 1976, "A love so great" song written by Guido Maria Ferilli and arranged by Detto Mariano and later also recorded by many other artists, including Claudio Villa, Luciano Pavarotti and Andrea Bocelli.

He studied at the Pesaro "school" Arturo Melocchi, from which also came out as Limarilli singers, such as Corelli.
Alfredo Kraus believes his technique is very close to the Italian tradition of Gigli and Caruso, giving voice to its particular stylistic reasons rather than technical.

Her singing is characterized by a noble declamatory phrasing, accent a noble indeed, enhancing the power, the ringing and the dramatic impetus of the song, but not for the last half-voices, pianissimo, the endless wind (just listen to his live recordings to listen to his pianissimo and half entries, contrary to what his detractors say).

Equipped with voice dark and extremely powerful, dramatic tenor (with inflections almost baritone), but also with a great mastery of the upper register, and Do It flaunting of rare richness and volume (much easier than ringing and colleagues such as Domingo or Jon Vickers).
Item highly endowed by volume, color and range, has managed to remain intact until death.
