There are several problems with planting a tree. The tree would probably die, due to poisoning. If it didn't, its roots system would eventually destroy the tank.

Another alternative to biodegradation within the second compartment of the septic tank is actually similar to your idea - it is a marshlike system in your drainage or leach field.

Or you can do other things, like have a wood chip biodegradation toilet.
