The "Cement Garden" isn't really about incest. Perhaps the movie is, but the book isn't. It's a Gothic story of what happens when parents aren't around. And by Gothic I mean the literary movement, not black lipstick and an obsessioin with vampires. Anyway, the perpose of the book is to illustrate the faults of the tradition family. I feel like the media portrays it as an incestous story to make it sell.

i saw this movie.....i mean i thot the movie would be more than just "incest" and "nudity".....but disappointedly its not!! Ok the parents die! ok they do wat seems "unnatural" and to some "pathetic" but who will bury their mother in a basement for god sake!!! please......i mean the start of the movie is good it glues u to ur seat.....but the later part is just incest, incest and nudity....that's it.....i think they cud have done better....much better...!!! :/

i just read the book, can identify with it SO much... obviously not the incest but all the habits & stuff of the main character, one of the best books i've ever read :)
