i've got the game and i realize that now, but marth's is the only final smash that will almost ALWAYS instant kill on an open space, which means not hyrule temple den or any closed spaces as such

No not really, especially not on a heavy character like ike. I cant think of any instant kill Final Smashes, because there arent any.

You don't have to get close, you can get them from the other side of the screen with Links, you just need to be at the same level as him horizontally.
