WG0AT, with his goats Rooster and Peanut, gave a great presentation at our Colorado QRP Club meeting. Here we help Steve dismantle his Buddipole antenna.

  • I think i have a fair question. Is it quite possible to make (dx contacts) on 40 and 20 meters, using a buddipole on a hill with a 16foot mast? Lets say 1000 + miles?

    Thank-you..

    Joe

  • Although I don't have any direct experience with a Buddipole I have, over the years, worked with similar antennas with great success. Depending on band conditions, location, and skill it can be very easy to work stations a thousand miles away at QRP levels. All the fun is in trying!

  • Joe,

I use a buddipole with 16 foot mast and have made contacts on 20m to both MD and WV from Colorado. These were both made using a 857d running barefoot at 100 watts. I've also use a buddistick and a couple of nights ago contacted Estonia w/ a 5-9 signal on 20m. I have a 817 but haven't tried QRP HF with it yet.

You really can't go wrong with buddipole products.

    Robert
