Alien portal / alien camp south of Bombay Beach at the Salton Sea.

Somebody(ies) decided to turn an abandoned encampment into some sort of alien portal. Desert weirdness at the Salton Sea. You can reach this place by driving just a little south of the Bombay Beach exit on Hwy 111.

The Salton Sea was recently featured on Life After People on the History Channel.

hey is the salton sea really as bad as people act like it is... cause i wanted to try some fishing down there but even one acts like omg this place is so crappy and smelling and stuff.....

p.s. is there any time to go when it looks nice and the fishing is good

The area is rundown and there's lots of abandoned stuff, but I've never really felt unsafe at the Salton Sea. The locals I've encountered have all been friendly. And, there are always other photographers wandering around, too. I don't fish, but I've hear that the main thing one can catch here is tilapia. Not sure when the good times to fish are, though.

@xXcam0manXx  usually October thru June is the best for fishing, during the summer there is an abundance of fish die-offs.

@xXcam0manXx It's an amazing place to see - an ocean in the middleof the desert. I would visit just to see it and then decide if you want to fish there.
