As part of its 150th Anniversary Celebrations, the NSW Police Force has registered 150 serving police officers to represent the Force in today's (Sunday 12 August 2012) City2Surf.

The 150 officers, who will be setting off as a group from the blue starting line at Hyde Park, will be joined by NSW Police Commissioner, Andrew Scipione APM, who will fire the starting gun for this year's race.

Superintendent Terry Dalton, Director of the Force's 150th Anniversary celebrations, said the 150 officers had come from all over NSW to represent the Police Force in this year's City2Surf.

"While all 150 officers are decent runners, they come from a wide variety of backgrounds, and represent local area and specialist police commands from across the state," Superintendent Dalton said.

"A range of events and activities have been scheduled over the course of 2012 to commemorate our 150th Anniversary, and today's race provides us with another opportunity to celebrate with the people of NSW."

Since 1 March 2012, when the NSW Police Force 150th Anniversary was officially launched with a Sea of Blue march through the streets of Sydney, the Force has been celebrating the major milestone.

Celebrations will continue until National Police Remembrance Day on 29 September 2012, when police officers will recognise and remember their colleagues who lost their lives in the line of duty.

Its great that the Police are supporting each other, showing the human side of policing. Celebrating 150yrs of Policing. Its so good that Retired and Police with 10 years service are also being recognised now each year, this will mean allot to police who gave their all but were unable to continue in the job they loved. Thank you.
