  • thx so much Holland. Please do let me know what subjects you'd be interested in.

Wishing you great Ch'i and inspired painting! Nan

  • What brushes should I start with as a beginner?

  • If I had to recommend just two brushes for a beginner, they would be the Large Orchid Bamboo brush and a Detail brush. Another excellent brush that is used for creating texture is the Mountain Horse brush. Student grade materials are never a good idea and always a false economy. Besides, while they are wonderful, the Chinese brushes are not expensive compared to Western watercolor brushes.

  • So beautiful! You're so inspirational! I cannot wait to apply your lessons!!

  • No animals were hurt in the making of these brushes. The animal keeps producing hair, i.e., sheep continually providing wool. Many of the brushes are made from sheep's hair and I would think the same process would be used.
