its not possible to directly password protect folders w/o special software but here is a quick method to doing it by creating a password protected Disc image (.dmg)

  • @shaynesabala of course, and you can try to use teamviewer although not encrypted, it's still fairly safe and needs a password to start the connection. other then that i have found nothing sorry.

  • Thanks for the fast response. Well I can use this method for my macbook, (helpful). I still need to figure out how to safely send large files over the internet. Oh and like I said before, the receiver needs to be able to open them on a pc. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

  • @shaynesabala just tested sending one to a 2011 windows 7 machine and was unable to open it. this method works on the mac principal of mounting disc images which only works on windows with an actual disc (ie. flash drive)

  • If I use this method can I email the file/folder and provide a pc user the password to open it?
