@bucketheadfan1 Thay are woth the hard work. it can take two years for any training to kick in ,in some elkhounds, but when it dose kick in everything you tought them comes back even things you forgot about :) xxx

Norwegian Elkhounds are overall a very good dog. They are always faithful and will always be a friend while usually being quite the goof ball in the process.

@Erestoriel Elkhounds are not the dog for "not a dog person". They bark and shed and demand a lot of dedication and care. That said, they are beautiful, friendly, generally a healthy breed, about as smart as dogs can get (mine has figured out how to make a back-scratcher from her rawhide chew-bones), absolutely devoted to their people, and in short, everything the song says about them. Moose wins fans everywhere she goes.

Love this song! Have 3 Elkhounds now, Ella, Grendel and Odin... had to put down our first ones (Signy and Beowulf) in the past two years. Can't imagine life without them! Smart, spunky, fun and loving.

thats a good videa. i just got my first norwegian elkhound 9 months ago, my mom had one when she was a teen and the way she talked about her dog, i couldnt not have one, i had to drive 9 hours and pay 250 in gas to get her but it was way worth it, my elkhound, maggie, is a very loving, very loyal, protective, sometimes hardheaded dog lol she keeps me on my toes, and her personality is one of a kind.

These are the most versatile dogs in the world. Mine is boon (or is that "bone"?) companion to my 86-year-old mother and has helped her through recovery from strokes, fractures, and pneumonia. For that matter, she got me through three fractures of the right leg.

She knows when a bit more exercise is needed, and when the best therapy is a whiskery nuzzle to the hand or face. And she's a great hot-water bottles!
