Phillies players, past and present formed a line of pallbearers to lovingly carry their longtime friend and Phillies play-by-play announcer, Harry Kalas, to his final rest.

I wound up going by myself. Got there about 9:30. Made my way through the line and found a nice single seat behind first base.

Little did I know this was going to unfold right in front of me. You can hear a pin drop until one guy yells out, "We love you, Harry!" And then the place comes unglued.

I got sunburned, broke a toe, and pissed off Carol, but I guess it was worth it to be there with anybody else who could make it, and for everybody who wanted to but couldn't.

My heartfelt condolences to the Kalas family, the Phillies, the Phil's extended family, and all Phillies fans who, like me, feel as if a piece of ourselves passed forever with the passing of Harry.

  • I don't know if anyone was watching this on Comcast SportsNet that day, but during this part they showed Shane Victorino crying his eyes out. That's when I really lost it too. The song is sad on its own, but watching Shane lose it really hit me hard. RIP Harry.

  • Im a Mets fan and I was sad when this all happened RIP Harry
