Dark Souls - Capra Demon melee

Equips: wanderer pants, wanderer gloves, +5 halberd, +3 hollow soldier shield

Another boss which a lot of people have complained about. The trick? Minimalize the use of lock-on as much as possible.

Howto:

Enter boss room and block the first attack
Run around up the stairs
Go to the upper corner and kill the dogs
Kill the boss

Capra Demon only has 3 real attack - a one handed swing (can do 2 swings), a two handed horizontal sweep and a two handed overhead smash. Simply avoid the attack, then go in, get a hit, repeat.

I really don't get how you weren't hurt a ton by his first attack, looks like you rolled in under it. Regardless, I actually did beat this boss on my first attempt after watching this video, though I knew this tactic the whole time... just couldn't get around him :/

I blocked it and then immediately lowered the shield to regen stamina. The attack only does full damage if you're caught right below it and less if you're a bit away. I blocked the "less" damage. The entire point is to bait Capra into doing an attack first so that it and the dogs doesn't hit you at the exact same time and completely drain your stamina.

only thing difficult about this fight are the dogs.  Once you dispatch those 2, this boss is cake to melee.

wow i didn't know that there was this ledge xD i started a new char with dex instead of str and this way it feels much harder. the fight seems to take 4ever with a dagger ^_^ but it shouldn't be a prob with the dropping attack stuff. thx for the video.

Thanks for posting. I hadn't noticed the ledge to the right at the top of the stairs.
