@vasili33 My grandfather came from a village called Capari by Mt. Pelister. Children were forced to answer in serbian during his childhood (1920s-early 1930s). Though clean Caparski Macedonian was spoken at home. Even the teacher's kids who were Serbian hung out with the Macedonian kids and spoke clean Capari Macedonian. In fact my aunt who immigrated to the states about 10 years ago said that she hadn't heard that type of Macedonian for a long time, she grew up in Skopje.

Exactly MacedonWarrior...........More needs to be done to preserve it

This text needs to be preserved for the younger generation..We need to educate all Macedonians around the world of our history and fight for freedom from all the oppressors....
Bravos Stojanov...
Can you tell me how does this compare to modern dialects of the region? Risto was telling me that in his village near Ohrid, the dialect was protected from Serbian influence. He says anyone who came into the village speaking Serbianised dialect would be "finished off"! - u know, one of the old guys would spit on his hands and.... ;) This would have been about 50 years ago.

This is the Lower Vardar dialect, spoken in central Aegean Macedonia (area between Voden, Kukush, Solun and Ber), but also in Republic of Macedonia around Gevgelija and Dojran. The dialects in R. Macedonia are very well preserved. People still speak like that. Next time you visit the area, go in Dojran or Gevgelija, and you will hear the same dialect spoken.
