It took my brother, my dad, and myself the better part of a day to get everything tuned up and repaired so that we could fire up my 1956 White 9000TD for the first time in 18 years. It only took two sniffs of ether (one for each start up) to get it running. We ran it for almost an hour while checking over everything, starting and stopping it to see how it started on diesel only, to fill the oil system back up, and to check out the hydraulics (no clutch yet, started it up with the hydraulics in gear).

  • Good looking old beast..hope you get her restored..want to see more...did you try movin her?

  • @IronManXXX I need to replace the clutch master and slave cylinders before she'll be drivable (and using the parking brake to stop).

  • Sounds pretty good Drew. You might want to install a master disconnect switch so you don't have to disconnect the batteries in case you have any drains in the electrical system.

  • @51CORNBINDER I'll add the key style master disconnect once the battery box is replaced (hopefully over this summer). Until then I'll keep taking the hot wire off of the batteries and tuck it out of the way. I do the same thing to my IH when its parked for more than a day at a time.
