This film (stills & audio) is part of a series of films 'Blair's Children' that were broadcast on Channel 4 TV. the films examine growing up in the socially excluded Aylesbury estate, where Tony Blair made his first speech as Prime Minister 10 years ago, and offer a unique insight into the lives of young people living on the estate in South London. Each character tells of a defining moment in their lives.
Stop making kids, please!

I grew up on the Aylesbury Estate in the early 90's, on the Northchurch block, just off the high-rise taplow block....I wouldn't say my childhood was any worse than your average inner-city kid, but one thing is for sure, I would never move back there now....even if the rent was free!
....its depressing and as much as I hate to say it, the Aylesbury's time has been and gone, and its time to start afresh.

@mallenuk working class...so you'd rather do build your loft extension by yourself? get a boiler checked by a middle class ponce charging you double, have everything in the uk made abroad by chinese and eastern european immigrants because the working class people don't exist anymore? I don't think you have thought about what the world would be like with a mixture of classes, peoples and communities. And what does it matter anyway?

When people talk about ayelsbury, people always say "sooner the better it gets knocked down"...bullshit, its a community, be it maybe disfunctional at times, and difficult to grasp by the middle classes, but fuck that annoys me. Really sweet that all your mates help you out! Thanks for sharing your story with the world.
You considered submitting this as a short film?
