Interesting.
Does Paul have tips on how to strech the thigh outward rotators?

I've been teaching myself how to fight for almost 4 years now, and I've had this exact problem on the turn out. When I practiced while watching I even saw my knee bend, showing that I turn at the toes, and my knee bends to keep up.
Turning at the hip feels a hell of a lot better. It feels like I have a solid base and better balance on my supporting leg, and the kick feels much more like a natural movement from the position. Now I wont be smashing up my legs when I practice. Thank you muchly :)

Not orthodox, but I would try it because you seem to know what you are talking about very well.

hi. my instructor taught me that i should only turn the balancing foot only when i deliver the kick (roundhouse, side kick, hook kick). he said it it more powerful and correct. i noticed you turn your supporting leg/foot when you prepare/chamber your kicking leg. i would like to know your opinion since you studied the human anatomy. thanks.

Hey man, I am not Paul Zaichik. So I can't give you the whole science behind it. I do know that Paul teaches a turn out on the chambers. If I remember correctly in his DVD's he explains that not all kick variations should have a complete turn out and on some the turn out is initiated with the chamber and completed with the kick.
