  • The Tridentine mass does not date from the 6th century. It dates from the 16th century and was a reaction to the Protestant reformation.

  • It was codified by the Council of Trent in the 16th century. But the Mass itself is far older than that. The Canon, or central part, of the Mass dates back to the time of St Gregory in the sixth century. God Bless!

  • Thanks for the comment.

He is reciting the Latin liturgy which has been in existence for over 1500 years.

The vestments (clothes) that he is wear is ornate due to history but also to help people understand the greatness and specialness of what is going on.

He turns his back to the congregation to endure that people do not focus on HIM as a person but on what is going on.

Keep looking at the videos and learning. God is working on you and leading you home. God bless.

  • its about time. st. paul and st peter is coming with great wrath.

  • @stgianna What is the processional hymn?

  • So this is the Saint Gianna Birretta Molla latin mass community I have heard about, one of the first to be named after her from what I hear, I know all about her the socity did a presentation about her in october 03 at St Joesephs, when she was still Blessed, anyway is that altar origional to the church or did you put it in just for the Tridentine Mass? St Gianna by the way is a spiritual mother to me as I have a third class relic of hers around my neck in the form of a miraculas medal.

  • @palmtrees100 You know nothing, please study before making an uneducated comment.

  • @Javnabeat I Know they used Greek. However, within the second century, Latin crept in and eventually became the primary language, though some Greek and Hebrew phrases and words were retained. Nonetheless, the Roman rite has had a conservative and organic development since the Apostles. No radical change in the liturgy has ever happened until the Novus Ordo Missal was promulgated.

  • @EMovroydis1 actually in their time there own language would have been used not latin most of the original liturgy was in greek ask your parish priest. also thats why we have the lord have mercy in greek to harken back to that time

  • @thedavidwilson Actually the priest back is turned to the people because he is facing east the direction of christ return. Also it is seen as the priest is facing with the people insted of having his back to them.

  • It would be great to set aside that kitchen table in front of the altar when the true mass is celebrated.

  • It's older than the 6th century. It's the Roman Rite, it dates back to Peter and Paul.

  • 1. "I cannot understand", we have missals freely accesible with the Latin on one side and the English on the other.
