  • i thought the train wasn't coming?

  • Whistle Madness I tell ya! That was great!

  • They are great, but they are soo mantainance and resource intensive to keep, but many of the later ones have more power the all but a few of the diesle electro ones as the newest locos by ge ran by bsnf that have the sets of three wheels have about 4300 horses and the 765 has about 4000 and could run top end 90 mph I was told, though the most they can go today is about 80 as there are speedlimits on the main lines and the track is often not as well kept as it used to be, I am told

  • also I only got to give it a short toot since there were people around, and she was getting low on water, infact after about 10 minuts up there talking to the crew the low water whistle blew kind of loud but not overpowering, Steve said they were getting low on everything except for fire she just did not want to fizzle out , as if she did not want to go back into her shed for the winter as sunday will be her last day outside for the year, I also learned it takes 8000 dollers just to fire her up

  • well she pulls a fairly generous size train by passenger standards, but she holds a record for hauling the most though the new river gourge out east, anyway I saw her hissing angry during the open house on sunday, its really differant when it has a fire in her and when you have to climb up without the platform to go to her, Mr Winniker was kind enough to let me and a little boy blow the whistle just a little, and the firebox door i learned is steam powered to open to feed her on the fly.

  • Berkshire Class S-2 Steamer, I can still remember when I use to work on the old Baldwin Steamers as a Fierman and Engineer Santa Fe Railway use to have. I love this memory and I sure miss them.
